Mapnik is a cross-platform mapping toolkit focused on making beautiful maps. It is the rendering engine behind sites like OpenStreetMap.org, Everyblock.org, Cloudmade.com, and Kosmosnimki.ru, and powers emerging tools for the web such as MapBox.com, TileDrawer.com, and MapOSMatic.org.

Projects

• Better Print Support Better Print Support is a project idea for Mapnik whose goal is the implementation of support for printing maps at different resolutions in order for users to print them and preserve the quality displayed onscreen. Additionally, the project has the purpose of improving the characteristics of the output image for better post-processing support.
• Support for outputting hit-areas The goal of this project is to implement functionality to output metadata to make certain things on the map clickable. I'll add tools to make the common use cases very easy for the user.
