WordPress includes accidental duplicate comment checking, as does bbPress standalone for new topics and replies.
The bbPress plugin for WordPress should include this too, using as much built-in WordPress logic as possible.
You can use existing bbPress subscription code and WordPress post comment subscription code as examples.
