The first pass at bbPress widgets was a great first pass, but it can be much improved upon. Including things like sort order, proper WP_DEBUG testing, textdomain fixes, and allow for reply excerpting instead of just showing arbitrary reply titles.

You can use existing bbPress and WordPress code for examples.
